Even by Mideast standards, the Israeli blockade of Jenin was intense. “It’s in a flat plain surrounded by hills,” says correspondent Joshua Hammer. “So it’s almost impossible to enter without being seen.” When Hammer finally drove into town on a back road, “Israeli jeeps surrounded the car within five minutes” and he was ordered to leave. “This is a propaganda war as much as anything else,” Hammer says. And is there a way out of the conflict?
